Natasha is 10 years old and lives with her older sister and Grandmother. She is tall for her age, a bit skinny and gangly, and beginning to develop breasts. She tends to be quiet, but thinks deeply about things and doesn’t like to be conspicuous or to seem like a show-off. She reads a lot and is close to and protective of sister and grandmother.
As the “new girl”, she brings confidence, stability and a level of maturity to the group. Natasha complements some qualities of all the other “Musketeers” and while she demonstrates leadership qualities, she is not fussy about being a leader. Natasha likes books and music.
Gillian is 10 years old and lives with her mother, father and two older brothers. Her parents have known Natasha’s family for some time. Gillian is medium height, not very developed yet and quite athletic. She attends church with her family and is soft, caring and sensitive, with concern for the welfare of others. She also has a vivid imagination, and likes details. Having older brothers, she likes to tease and romp and also enjoys the challenge of sports such as running, netball and cricket. Gillian brings common sense and good judgment to the group. She too has leadership qualities but is not concerned with being “the leader”.
Tina is 10 years old and lives with her father and younger brother. Her parents recently divorced, and her mother now lives overseas. Although Tina is a bit shorter than her friends, not very developed, and often a bit untidy, she has a big, infectious personality. Tina’s jovial face and easy smile reflect her ready sense of humour – sometimes a bit of a trickster. Tina tends to be everyone’s friend. She is creative and good with her hands is often involved in art and craft activities. She likes cooking, baking, dancing and music. Tina tends to be the “glue” of the group
C.C. is a 10 year old, only child. She lives with her mother, who travels a lot for work, and C.C. enjoys weekend visits with her father. Of medium height, C.C. is much more developed than the other girls and is more likely to wear modern, designer clothes and accessories. C.C. thinks of herself as “classy” and likes to be the centre of attention. Through her greater exposure, she tries to present herself as very knowledgeable and confident, but sometimes comes across as bossy. She brings some femininity to the group of friends, but despite being a bit of a know-it-all and trying to be a leader, she is very supportive and dependent on her friends.
